Am I Wrong?
Sep. 23rd, 2004 12:29 amOn the radio at work, just before I closed the shop, there was a news report warning women about the latest date rape tool - cigarettes soaked in embalming fluid. (Ew.)
At the end of the report, the detective being interviewed said something that made me so mad...
"Where there are women, there will be rape."
Am I wrong to be incensed by that?
Women aren't usually the ones committing the rapes, they're the victims, and yet this detective makes it sound like the blame is laid on the women for being there!
The sentence itself infuriated me. The fact that it was spouted by a female detective enraged me.

on 2004-09-23 03:20 am (UTC)Maybe what the person - detective? - meant to say - and should have said - that was where there are woman, there will always be some brain-dead guy who thinks it's open season.
Still not a particularly thrilling statement, and why do i think that there'll be some flack over it?
And where in the hell does one get embalming fluid? I mean, jayzus.
*shudder*
