My fic brain is still in a coma, so for my commitment to 14valentines I will be posting icons of purple things. These things will include beads, fabrics, teddybears, dice, fruit, flowers, scenery, lightning strikes and other fun purple stuff.

14valentines day four is about Domestic Violence.

I didn't have to google for the names of UK organisations on this topic because I already know them - Women's Aid whose motto is 'until women and children are safe', and Refuge, whose motto is 'For women and children. Against domestic violence.'

I know of them through friends and relatives who have had reason to call upon their services. And because of them I volunteered to help run get-togethers organised by the local Refuge in my home town. Volunteering just a few hours a week can make so much difference to the lives of others, as well to your own.

Day #2 of 14valentines focuses on 'Women in the Arts'.

I did Google for UK equivalents so I could provide my own links alongside those of the comm, which are mostly US-centric, but I searched in vain, at least for today's subject. Unless it's buried somewhere behind the first 50 links Google spit out, there is no organisation set up to support British women in the arts. That saddens me somewhat.
