WriterconUK 2009 Midimeet

I'm back! And I bet most of you didn't even know I was gone. :P

On Friday I trundled off to the Ramada Hotel in Coventry for my first ever WriterconUK Midimeet. Of the 25 other attendees, I had met precisely one before: kitty_poker1, so it was a weekend of dizzying memory blanks and jumbled names/nyms/IDs.

A complete(ish) list of attendees can be found here, as I am really not up to that amount of coding right now. *g*

There were talks and presentations a-plenty, and I got to pretend I knew what I was on about by giving a talk on (my opinion on) how best to moderate communities. It was both terrifying and thrilling. And apparently also educational. (Yay me!)

I had my first ever Thai food on friday night and will now pine piteously because there is no Thai restaurant in my town and that makes me saaaaaaaad. :(

Your talk was excellent! And put me off ever modding a comm, in the nicest possible way. It means making decisions. And, heaven forfend, tagging. *wibble*

I'll be so much nicer to comm mods from now on. It's not just a matter of clicking on 'create community' and waiting for them To Come. Eek!

How are you still awake? And hils is, too. There was too little alcohol involved is the only excuse. :P

The programme really worked out to be well-balanced and highly entertaining as well as educational. Who knew? It wasn't quite stick in a pin...

Tagging isn't so scary. repetitive yes, once you have your tag scheme in place, but once it's done, it' easy enough to keep up. ;)

I had over 5 hours sleep! That's more than I usually have when I need to be in work for noon on a Sunday, so our 3am goodnights didn't faze me at all. :P

The program was very well-balanced and educational/entertaining. I'm just very glad my pin got stuck in an afternoon slot. Trying to sound competent in the am would have been just too hard.

He also dangled Deadshot and Catman under my nose, and Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Which was sneaky and underhanded and should be commended.

Mine was due out at 2:12, via Cheltenham Spa, and Booster's was due out about 1:15, also via Cheltenham Spa, so I jumped on that one and we gabbed all the way to CS and then I jumped off and bopped away to my MP3 player until the 2:12-as-was rolled in. LOL!

Catman! YIS! OMG, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (as in Ted not Jamie) are so doing it! I always make sure my statues of them stand next to each other in faithful belief of this ~g~

Ha! I do the exact same thing, from the other end of the clock. I try to dial my bodyclock back an hour or two a day for a few days before going off to visit with diurnal types. Then it slowly dials itself back down to the vampire setting. :P
