OMG THAT WAS HELL!
I COULDN'T GET INTO LJ FOR ALMOST EIGHT HOURS!
I tried rebooting, I tried turning my computer off, letting it cool down, turning off my router, and then rebooting. I tried updating Opera to V9 (very cool btw, though they've moved stuff around, like I wasn't freaked out enough?!?!?!). Nothing. Not one damn lj page would load. or vox. or typepad. Which leads me to think it was a sixapart problem except I could load Six Apart itself.
I cried, I clung to
literati on YIM for most of those hours, between sobfests and angry snarling, clicking refresh every few minutes with no success.
Then she logs off, I give it one more go, and here you all are!

on 2006-07-21 05:48 am (UTC)it was awful!
LJ went away earlier, for about an hour and a half, but I figured it was just a hiccup, and it gave me a chance to do some coding. But then at just after 11pm GMT it went away entirely and wouldn't come back no matter how hard I begged and cried.
I'm paranoid at the best of times, but stuff like this just is not good for my equilibrium. Which is partly why I updated Opera - I was already as freaked as I could be, so the usual 'upgrading/adding software freakout/panic attack didn't really register as more than a blip. *g*
It was just so damn wierd that I could go everywhere else except Six Apart's blogging sites, but Six Apart itself was fine. I even checked out some porn sites to see if my ISP had suddenly gone all Big Brother on me, but they all loaded okay.
Now I should be going to bed but I am terrified to log off. And might as well read my flist while I'm here. It's only at skip=20, which makes me wonder what everyone's been doing while I've been freaking out.
You've all been having fun, haven't you? *gives you the beady eye*

on 2006-07-21 05:51 am (UTC)No! We've been having a terrible time, because YOU WEREN'T HERE. *glomps*
Though. There are two things of mine I would love you to look at.
1) Pictures of my kitty. (http://acostilow.livejournal.com/28440.html")
2) Drabbles I wrote. (http://umbraeabincanum.livejournal.com/10038.html)

You were brave and survived it.

on 2006-07-21 08:09 pm (UTC)It was worse than the Blackout because I knew everyone else was there having fun and I was locked out in the cold all by myself. *sniffles*

on 2006-07-21 10:28 pm (UTC)Has it been bugging you to update?
I finally had to, and then Cat found a tiny little program to dl that made the ad embedded in it go away. Yay!
*kicks ym*

on 2006-07-21 10:40 pm (UTC)There's an ad? There's a program to get rid of the ad? Huh.
I'm not ready to update YIM. I only just updated Opera and I'm still getting used to the changes. Why oh why have they made it so I can't see the page until it's *completely* loaded? Before, I could be halfway down my flist before the last graphic loaded and now - not. *kicks 'new and improved' liars*

on 2006-07-21 11:44 pm (UTC)Is Opera your browser? I like Firefox - it works well for me. I don't *ever* let it add stuff. Every upgrade they want to do all this new toolbar crap and etc. and man - hate it!
I keep most of the options turned *off*. Heh. I'm cranky!

on 2006-07-21 11:59 pm (UTC)Thankfully, the newer version installs over the old one and keeps all my settings, unlike earlier versions, which always sucked.
Lit uses Firefox after I kept nagging her to get away from Exploder, and now she nags at me to use Firefox.
Last time she and I updated YIM we lost the ability to play Literati in the game panel. That sucked. Maybe another update would correct that? *ponders*
no subject
on 2006-07-22 12:46 am (UTC)I dunno what a 'game panel' is... If your yahoos are not the same version? Then they aren't compatible anymore. Rere and i found that out the hard way. So very, very annoying.
Firefox rox. I love it. IE totally wrecks my computer's ability to run. Gah.

on 2006-07-22 12:39 am (UTC)It's (slightly) comforting to know that I was not alone in my plight and that the internets were not just picking on me. Sadly, it just confirms my belief that BT sucks.
