Exhausted, happy, ready to spend the next few days recovering from all the fun and frolics and food and alcohol. Ooh, and Firefly. :D
So, even though I'll be paging back through my flist to make sure I miss nothing, tell me what I should be looking at right now. any good fic? Did someone have a baby while I was gone? Is there a kerfuffle I should take a nice big stick to? Link me to anything you think I'd like to see.
*hugs you all*
It's good to be home!

on 2005-11-14 08:18 pm (UTC)I'm at skip=340 now, and slowly digging my way out of that hole. I should be done sometime tomorrow tea time, I think, if I don't do frivolous things like at or sleep. *g*
But these are definitely moved to the top of the list! Yay!

on 2005-11-15 03:18 am (UTC)actually, i was wondering... a friend has an SGA ficlet, and i offered to host it on my lj. the only problem is, i'm still learning how to even use html coding again, and i don't know how to do the 'cut' thing that everyone at Bloodclaim seems to be expert at. any ideas? and any ideas how i can get people to come read it? because i really would like her to get feedback. if she gets it, she may write more! *crosses fingers* any help would be ohsogreatly appreciated.

on 2005-11-15 03:38 am (UTC)LJ cuts are easy once you know how, but you have to get the coding exactly right.
For fic posts, the best format is to put the headers before the cut, so they're visible without needing to open the post. (You can find a suggested list of headers on
And then you need the cut:
[lj-cut text="REPLACE THIS TEXT WITH FIC TITLE"]
The fic itself goes here
[/lj-cut]
Replace ALL square brackets [ ] with < > and those are your opening and closing LJ cut tags.
As for finding an audience - there are a lot of SGA communities set up for different pairings, or just general slash, het/gen fic. My advice is to join the relevant ones, including,
[a href="FIC POST URL"]FIC TITLE[/a] - again replacing [ ] with < >.
You can add your friend's email in these headers, but most likely people are going to comment in your journal, so she'll probably see more feedback there.
If the ficlet is McShep, the other comm you need to join and post a link in is
I hope that helps!
