A sign
He's back in the shadows, watching again, waiting for a sign. He doesn't know what it will be, or when, but just as he knows the rain will fall before this night is through, he knows the sign will come - silent, urgent, irresistible. From him. For him.
He hopes it's soon.
They're addicted, him and Mulder both. Addicted to the sounds the other makes when the lights go out. Dark, hungry sounds of ecstasy and fury, sounds that keep them coming back for more.
And so he waits. He doesn't know when it will be but he hopes it's soon.
