First Time
If it hadn't been so important it might have been easier.
Laces got tangled.
Buttons got lost.
Fumbling. Awkward. Intense.
Too many knees and elbows.
Muscle cramps in a thigh unused to bending like that for so long.
Trepidation.
Spike had only topped that once, under Dru's insistent direction.
Xander had bottomed... for Faith, but that was all he'd ever done.
(Anya had scared him silly that day, with the dress and the condoms and... stuff.)
And on top of the usual stresses and strains was the thought, in the back of both minds:
What if the chip goes off?
Seconds To Spare
"Gods, Spike, that was close! I thought for sure she was going to catch us that time!"
Spike reached out and fastened a missed button on Xander's shirt, taking the opportunity to tease his lover's nipples, still tight and sensitive beneath the soft cotton. The week it had taken to talk him into the piercings had been well spent.
"Never happen, luv. I told you, I've got eyes in the back of my head and ears like a bat. There's no way the Slayer's ever gonna sneak up on us shagging, no matter how loud you're begging and whimpering..."
"Spike!"
The Gift of Time
There were five Akrashkin demons, not four; a fact they discovered too late to make it count.
The fifth came out of the trees and took the hindmost member down. The one who’d agreed to hang well back to keep him out of danger. The one who only had time for one last scream before being felled by a mess of piercing, viscera-exuding wounds.
Spike let no-one near his fallen lover; he rent the midnight air with primal howls. Ignoring Buffy’s cries to let him die he tore his wrist and let the gift of dark eternity trickle in.
“Please…”
Futureflash
“…And humankind believed demons weren’t real and magic was sleight of hand.”
Xander grinned at his audience of pale, awed faces.
“Now, off to bed, or Spike will come in and tell you what he used to get up to Topside, and then you’ll never sleep.”
Spike waited for the last child to scurry away to the sleeping halls before stepping out of the shadows. Xander was already on his feet.
“Sire… Spike, you had us worried, you were so late!”
“We lost a couple of tunnels, luv, but Angel’s on his way back with fresh supplies, and a mage…”

on 2004-12-09 02:43 am (UTC)And the future one has intrigued me too. It kinda came out of nowhere...

on 2004-12-09 02:51 am (UTC)Aw, thanks. :o)
I like the idea of Xander being turned so he can stay with Spike, sometimes, but this one just had to be a 'too late!' scenario, with Spike desperate to keep his love. And the underground stuff came out of nowhere! I hope I can come up with more of it. ;o)
no subject
on 2004-12-09 02:53 am (UTC)Oh, so do I! *g* Thanks.
When I started out with such awkward realism for the 'First Time' drabble, I had no idea I was going to finish off with something quite so fantastically unreal. It has me intrigued. ;o)
no subject
on 2004-12-09 02:56 am (UTC)But the one word that really got to me the most was that one 'please'.
Yeah, poor Spike was so desperate to keep Xander he was willing to risk losing him to the demon. That 'please' was the most important part of the drabble. ;o)

on 2004-12-09 03:02 am (UTC)I'd love to see more of the futureflash one too. ::gets on knees to the muse:: It just kinda came out of knowhere. I was trying to move the boys into the future so show they were still together after the passage of time and... suddenly they were in tunnels and o.o. *g*

on 2004-12-09 03:04 am (UTC)::preens::
Thank you! 'The Gift of Time' was going to be called 'Too Late', but it sounded too final and death-ficcy. *g* I had to have Spike saving Xander, or at least trying to. :o)

on 2004-12-09 03:06 am (UTC)Yes, a real first time. Comeplete with ums and ers and ows. *g* The pierced nipples happened because I needed that para to be longer, but they fit perfectly. And the last one came out of nowhere. I still have no idea of any backstory, but I'm hoping...

on 2004-12-09 03:12 am (UTC)Hee! If I had more, I'd write it, because it reeled me in too, but I don't know any more! My muse gave me that tiny spoonful and then hid the rest away somewhere. I need to find a bribe for her that will work. ;o)
*smooch*
Ta!

on 2004-12-09 03:15 am (UTC)*smooch* Ta!
I also want to know the full story behind the last one. ::bats eyelashes::
Oh, so do I! My muse only saw fit to gift we with this tiny snippet and it's got me going nutso trying to find out more!

on 2004-12-09 03:23 am (UTC)And, want MORE of course, of that future bit. Just a bit more.
*measures with fingers*
Tiny bit.
K?
k.
Oh, so would I! The muse gave me that tiny snippet and then... poof! Gone. I'm trying to lure her back with toblerone and jamaican ginger sponge but she's being difficult.
Rest assured,if I get more I will share. ;o)
no subject
on 2004-12-09 03:28 am (UTC)And if my muse will give me more of the futureflash story I will certainly share. At the moment she's hoarding it, but I am trying every bribe available. ;o)
no subject
on 2004-12-09 03:31 am (UTC)::curtsies:: Thankee!
And belive me, I'm intrigued too! My muse only gave me that tiny peek into that universe. I'm trying to wangle more out of her. ;o)

on 2004-12-09 03:35 am (UTC)I'm trying to pry more details of the futureflash one out of my muse but she's being contrary. Whatever I manage to get I will certainly share. ;o)

on 2004-12-09 03:37 am (UTC)'The Gift of Time' was nearly called 'Too Late'... but I just couldn't do that to my boys. *g* So, Xander got to come back for another drabble. ;o)

Believe me, I'm itching to know more about the Futureflash story too. The muse is being stubborn.
the bitch.I just couldn't resist the realism for First Time. I could see it so clearly...
*smooch*

on 2004-12-10 02:25 am (UTC)Thank you! I could see them being so awkward but determined. :o)
And Buffy so wanted to see them together in the second one. And she nearly did!
