An Age Old Question...
"Tell me about the Slayers, Spike."
"Never thought I'd meet one, pet. I'd listened to the stories, heard the rumours, watched Angelus pontificate on what they were about, but I never thought I'd find one in the middle of all that mess."
"What mess was that, Spike?"
"How many times have you had me tell these stories, Xan? You know which bloody mess I'm on about."
He sighed and wriggled closer to his Sire.
"I know, but I'm remembering it again, the very first time we lay like this and you told me things. So..." Poke.
"Dammit, let me think!"
First Blood - The Boxer Rebellion
"Bodies, fire and bullets were all about and we were loving every minute of it. Chaos, devastation, one great never-ending scream of mad frustration as the people fell like flies. The feeding was too easy, they were falling on our fangs to get away, and then there she was. A tiny china doll, all full of rage and hate, determined in that mess to kill the demons who had come to join the fun. She might have had a chance if there'd been food for her to eat, but she was skin and bone, bound by a will of iron."
Second Down - New York Subway Train
"I've always loved to spend time on the subway. There's just something entertaining about so many bodies, all trapped underground, and no escape in sight if something should go wrong. Of course, that night, the trains were pretty empty, just the two of us locked in combat in the early morning hours, too late for all the clubbers and too early for the early morning shifts. She fought me like a demon, had me pinned, she did, as well. I'd never come so close to death before. She earned respect. That's why I took the coat and not her blood."
Fourth To Fall - Madrid
"She came out of nowhere, remember, pet? All Spanish curses and that beautiful long braid flying out behind her in the wind. I still can't figure what her Watcher was thinking letting her wear her hair that way, it was too easy to grab hold and reel her in. She put up quite a fight though, broke your arm if I remember, and I do, so don't go looking at me like that, you weren't to know she had that flail hid up her sleeve."
"You missed out Buffy, Spike."
"Oh no, Xan, she was yours. You tell that tale..."

Shhhhhhhh! Don't tell everyone that! Let 'em think I've been slaving over my word counter for the last two days trying to perfect my art, not suddenly thinking 'aw bugrit', just an hour ago and typing like a demon to get them posted before the deadline closes. Spill all my secrets would ya? *g*

on 2004-10-12 02:49 am (UTC)Sad but true. Deadline pressure is my friend, though oddly, more often than not, the closer a deadline gets for one item, the more I'm inspired to write others. *g*

::scowls:: And you'd better not...

on 2004-10-12 02:46 am (UTC)Thanks, darlin'! I wasn't going to answer this weeks challenge, even before the grunge!muse bit, but I got hit by inspiration just an hour ago and ran with it. Spike sometimes has an odd way of looking at things and I tried to see the various slayers through his eyes.
And Xander? I'm not tellin'... cos I honestly don't have a clue. It just happened, I swear. ;o)

on 2004-10-12 11:34 pm (UTC)From what little I remember of the Boxer Rebellion, people were very short of food, and China was a very very male-centric country, so the boys got fed first and best. She must have been a skinny little thing. *g*
