Thanks to a wonderful donor (who shall remain nameless so as to protect them from their flist), I have a Dreamwidth account: darkhavens.

(NB: I am not leaving LJ. Not unless they kick me out. I have comms to run and a flist to obsess over!)

As per the donor's request, I have created a bloodclaim over there, which will become operational once I've imported everything and made sure I haven't cocked it up. *g*

I have also created slashthedrabble and slashtheimage, and new prompts will be cross-posted to both LJ and DW (so I don't get confused *g*).

Way back in January, once again staring at an empty page in MSWord, I decided to do something drastic: I signed up for findyourwords, choosing 50,000 as my target wordcount for the year 2009. That's more than I've written in the last two years combined.Wordcounts (posted fic only): 2006=53k, 2007=25k, 2008=22k. EEP!

I then continued staring blankly at various empty pages until March, when I discovered comment_fic and became addicted. A couple of days ago, 6 weeks on from word one, I broke the 10k barrier and decided to get myself a widget to celebrate:

I've been looking and looking at the DW thing and i guess i'm gonna get a journal over there. Just for 'in case', you know? I had a couple people on my flist totally go away and be on insane journal only, and i never, ever read them any more, which really sucks.

But i can if i *want* to, which helps. Heh.

I guess i'll buy an account once they're for sale. We'll see.

I have a couple of flisters who ran off to IJ too! And at first I moped, thinking I'd never read them again, but then I remembered LJ's RSS feed page, so I made their IJs into LJ feeds and now I get their IJ posts delivered to my LJ flist. :D

Words! Words, words, words! :D Counting up my last couple of years' output was quite a surprise, because I had actually written more than I thought I had. I guess I remember the wide open, wordless spaces more than the scribbling frenzies and momentary inspirations.

Feeds are wonderful things. They bring stuff from other websites directly to your flist, or at the very least provide a link to it.

I watch several, including Quote of the Day qotdrss, and three 'word of the day' feeds: dictionary_wotd, webster_wotd and wordsmith_daily. I also have a webcomic, a couple of daily image feeds (Wiki and Astronomy Pictures of the Day) and David Hewlett's Twitter feed. *g*

There's a list (http://www.livejournal.com/syn/list.bml) of the top 1000 for perusal, and a FAQ (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=137) on how to create others. :D

I think there's a button/option in firefox to just subscribe to a feed - i've clicked it accidentally, heh.

Codes are hard to come by as they're only doling them out in ones and two to a few at a time, trying not to put too much strain on the servers while they run around fixing all the stuff that us newbies are discovering doesn't work.

DW is still in closed beta, but once they open it up at the end of April, there will be more invite codes floating about and everyone will be welcome to come and play. :D

I'm at your post right now talking Merlin and recs. (Reeeeead meeeeeeeee! There's 11k+ of newish dh fic begging for your attention. Hee!)
