"Oi, tosser!"
Xander glared at Spike.
"Would you stop with the weird insults already? How am I supposed to give good comeback if I don't understand what you're calling me?"
"Not understanding doesn't stop you responding, now does it?" Spike smirked, then scowled as his bandaged fingers refused to follow direction, scattering his cigarettes onto the floor.
"Bollocks!"
He fumbled for his nicotine fix with fingers too numb and stiff to work properly until Xander nudged him out of the way and scooped them up.
"You're going to need to get those bandages changed later. You might not be able to get an infection or anything, but that blood's going to start stinking pretty soon and you don't really want to attract flies, do you?"
"Not doing anything or going anywhere until I've had a fag, so come on, hand it over."
Xander obligingly dusted off a Marlboro and held it out. Spike sighed.
"I meant my lighter, Harris. You know, that Zippo you've got tucked away next your meat and two veg? Be a good boy and whip it out for me, yeah?"
And if Xander's pants were suddenly two sizes too small, he wasn't going to mention it.

And they are perfect for each other. They both desperately want to be loved and needed and to have someone to take care of. And someone to snark with. *g* *draws big red hearts around them both*
