First-Hand Experience

Spike arrived in time to see Xander touch the tazer to his temple and go down in a mass of twitching limbs. He was not happy.

Xander woke to leather-induced darkness. Chained tightly in a ball - wrists to ankles, throat to throbbing balls - he was immobile. His head hurt.

"S… Spike?"

"You stupid little wanker! What the fuck were you playing at?"

Xander flinched and tried to track the moving voice without castrating himself. It pulled.

"I… I wanted to know… The chip… I wondered how… You survived so long…"

Spike was humbled, proud, and infuriated.

"Bloody idiot."



Party Hearty

The club was somehow darker than the alleyway outside - full of cloudy corners and black shadows, thick as felt. Even the wild, hypnotic sounds that flowed from the car-sized speakers were muffled, as though the air itself was dense, like cotton wool. The scent of lust, as sweet as liquid chocolate, lingered in the haze, a counterpoint to the zing of fresh-spilled blood.

Xander stretched and felt his shoulder pop back into place.

"Mmm, that was fun."

Spike used a shredded dress to wipe his childe clean of gore.

"Happy deathday, luv. I should've known you'd want a party."
