Waiting

"Please don't come back wrong, Xander. Please be you."

Spike lost count of the times he repeated his basic plea, interspersed with promises and bribes, threats and words of love.

He'd never made a childe before - only turning minions when he needed something doing that he couldn't, or wouldn't, do himself. They were nothing more than cannon fodder - a nip and a sip and if they didn't rise you made a new one.

This was the most important thing he'd ever tried to do.

The clock ticked on, each second like an hour, until finally, Xander began to stir.

"Please…"




The Plan

"Please don't…"

Drusilla smiled and took another step forward.

"Don't what?"

"Don't… Don't do - anything! I promise I'll go far away and never come here again. I just wanted to see if Xander was okay, and yeah, he is. So I'll just be on my way and…"

Dru stepped closer.

"Silly red witch, black-hearted tree, you shouldn't lie to Miss Edith. She always knows and then she gets upset."

Willow swallowed hard. Oh, this was bad. Dru hadn't been part of 'The Plan' at all. 'The Plan' had been designed to take care of Spike and Xander. 'The Plan' sucked.

Well, I knew from early on that she was on the hit list, so I've just been drawing the anticipation out for maximum effect. *g*

She's trying to do what she thinks is right, but she stopped really thinking about it a while back and now she's just determined to carry out the resouling, no matter what. And that would be wrong and cruel and... not gonna happen. *g*

Oh, god, I felt my heart twist a little. I'm going to be picturing that scene all night. I love how there's so much deep true love in this 'verse, and them being evil doesn't change a bit of it.

Thank you! That solid streak of love is there inside everything they do. I couldn't get away with half the drabbles I do if that wasn't the case. It transforms gorefests into romantic dinners for two. :D
