Hide and Seek
The warehouse was pitch black; windows boarded inside and out, not even a single skylight to cast a shadow. Somewhere, amongst the pillars, freestanding walls and empty crates, Xander's sire had built himself a nest.
He scented the air, testing for Sire, for Spike, for sex, and caught a hint of leather on the breeze. The underlying smoke was old and faded, and he smiled. His sneaky Sire didn't miss a trick.
Carefully he picked his way around the dark perimeter, triangulating the scents as he'd been taught. Then he pounced.
"Clever childe, finding me so quickly. Knew you would."
Patience
"I know you lot always believed I didn't have the patience to follow through on any of my plans, and, well, you're right. Too impatient by half, that's my downfall and I know it, but that's no reason for you to be the same. A vampire doesn't last long if he doesn't have patience and a brain; he needs to know exactly when to move and when to wait. A case in point, as I'm sure you'll remember, was St Vigeous' Night. If I'd waited... well, we wouldn't be here now."
"But I'm hungry!"
"Patience, love. We've got all night."
Kitten Poker
The tension around the table was thick enough to chew, and Xander was fairly sure that Spike was cheating. Oh, he hadn't marked the deck, that had come straight out of its wrapper, and been counted, checked and shuffled for all to see. His lighter wasn't polished and on the table like it sometimes was, so he wasn't reading cards as they were dealt. No, it wasn't anything so obvious, but still, that grin meant Spike was a vampire with a plan.
"Royal Flush, the perfect hand to end this merry night on."
"Spike? How...?"
"Wait till we're outside, Pet."

on 2005-04-25 02:59 pm (UTC)I was tempted to write a sex games one, but I was distracted by three hours of salsa music ratting my windows from the town hall across the road. *g*
Thanks. :)

on 2005-04-25 03:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, Spike has a knack for cheating, and for trouble, and Xander knows it and loves him for it. He just wishes he culd figure out how he cheated. *g*

on 2005-04-24 06:45 am (UTC)(And I kept that AMAZING typo, because I was typing the comment and got distracted by reading the pretty drabbles again. But I kept typing... silly fingers.)
Your drabbles are the only drabbles I read religiously. They never disappoint.
