First commenter on the day's drabble(ish) gets to provide pairing and prompt for the next one. You can choose from Spike/Xander, John/Rodney and Sam/Dean or choose one of them as a solo character. Give me a word, or mood, or something to think on and I'll see what I can do. I may expand the possible selection if this works and I actually get my mojo firing on all cylinders. (Nobody gets two drabbles in a row. If you get one today, you don't get to have one tomorrow, even if your comment is up first.)

Summary: Xander queries the spelling of 'cat'.
Notes: Daily Drabble #13, written for [livejournal.com profile] knitty_woman, who prompted me with "Spander and Strip Scrabble".

Spike tapped the little plastic 'T' into the place on the bottom right corner of the board and sat back with a smug grin.

"K-H-A-T. Double letter score for K and T is on a triple word score. That's-" Spike paused dramatically, "-forty-eight points to me." His grin was the very definition of smug.

Xander fidgeted in his only remaining item of clothing, a pair of Sponge-Bob Squarepants boxers.

"That's not how you spell 'cat', Spike. I don't care what you say about how Americans have screwed up your perfectly good language, that is not how you spell 'cat'."

Spike sat back into a sprawl and ostentatiously smoothed down the front of his tee-shirt before tucking his thumbs into the front pockets of his jeans. His bare toes wiggled at Xander.

"You think so?"

Xander nodded and looked serious.

"You're absolutely sure?"

Xander nodded again, and Spike nudged the laptop towards him with one foot, browser already open to 'The Official TWL Scrabble Dictionary' website.

"Challenge me then. Type it in and see if I'm right. And then you can lose the cartoon pants, you illiterate git, and the game as well."

Xander stared at the search box. The search box stayed blank.

Xander stared at the tiles on the board. The tiles said 'KHAT'.

Xander stared at Spike. Spike stroked the erection barely held in place by his button fly and then glanced over his shoulder to the clock on the mantel.

"You gonna be done soon, or should I call out for supplies?"

Xander stayed silent but the click-click-click-click-click of the keyboard spoke loudly on his behalf.

There was a moment's pause while Xander absorbed the website's verdict and then he stood up and skinned his boxers off his hips, leaving his own cock standing proudly to attention.

"Gee, Spike, I guess you win this one, fair and square. So, what's the forfeit this time?"

~~~~~~~
Several hours later, Xander was sleeping off his post-coital exhaustion when he was rudely poked in the ribs by his indignant boyfriend.
"Oi! You... You cheated! Are you trying to tell me you spent five years in Africa and never once heard of khat?"
"No," Xander said, trying not to laugh at Spike's expression. "I just always spelled it with a 'Q'."
Hah hah. That brings back a memory to dirty to tell, since I really don't know you that well. I was playing Scrabble with my brother and mother and thought I didn't have a word left to play, and I was being my typically pouty, sore-loser self. My mother found a word for me to play. Hee. My brother's pretty straight-laced, and he was extremely shocked. Hah hah hah hah hah.
My late mother was a cross between Maggie Smith in "Travels with My Aunt" and and and a a a...hippie, I guess. She was so cute, frank, honest, innocent, and loving. I swear. At first, I couldn't bring up memories about her with out getting all misty-eyed, but I finally chilled/accepted?? Now every time I think about her I laugh, smile, or guffaw because she ws so damn much fun and so damn loving. I still miss her. I wish I could call her on the phone and prank her like we (really) used to do each other, but still, I love talking about her. She was very racy, sort of like Moll Flanders. Hee! The naughty word she found started with a c and ended with a t. Hint: It wasn't can't. Ha ha ha ha ha. (((hugs)))
