Scent
Spike pretends to hate the fact that Xander works all day. He makes a point of mentioning his feelings on the matter once a week, occasionally twice.
It's true, a major part of him resents his lover leaving, but another part looks forward, every day, to his return. Xander brings the scent of sunshine home, the taste of summer breeze. Sometimes he smells of new-cut grass or autumn in the park, and on those days he doesn't get to shower before Spike's on him.
Xander smiles, indulgent, as Spike tries to crawl inside his skin, snuffling, tasting, savouring each scent before it fades. He lets Spike think that he thinks this is all some kinky foreplay, designed to get him sensitized and eager, and it really does. But Xander doesn't make a move until Spike's had his fill, content to stand and let his lover breathe the sunshine in.
