I'm fine. A lot of you know I'm not in London, but I woke this evening to find worried email and an SMS, so I'm just giving a wave to let you all know I'm here and safe and totally shocked, because the email and SMS were the first I'd heard about this.

{~{~{~{~{~hugs and vibes to all affected~}~}~}~}~}

And now I'm off to check in on all the Londoners.

This stinks.

I didn't think you were in London, but I wasn't sure if you were close enough to commute for a daily trip or anything.

I didn't have a clue what was going on. I'd just woken up, checked my phone and found an SMS from lit saying 'I hope you're okay down there. I know you're not in London but still...' and that made me worry a bit, but I thought maybe there'd been an over-enthusiastic 'We got the Olympics!' party that had degenerated into trouble like those things tend to. Then I turned my computer on and loaded OE and found email asking me to reply, even if it was just the word 'safe', and that really shook me up. So, I opened Opera and went to Google News and... Jesus.

I'm off to check on my flist and see who's been accounted for. Half the Horbling crowd are in London...

I'm close a couple of hours away by train, so yeah, I'm close enough. Terrifying thought.

This morning I did a quick search to see your location. Still glad you're okay. Hope all of your friends and family are likewise safe and sound.

You're such a great listmom, how can we help but worry?

Glad you're ok!

I consulted my sketchy-at-best knowledge of English geography, and decided that Devon was far enough away that you were probably alright, but it's good to have it confirmed. (I'm still waiting to hear from a good friend, and it's making me very anxious, so please ignore me if I seem a little tightly wound.)

I'm crossing names off my list at a good rate, so I'm hopeful that everyone is safe and sound. *smooch*

Honey, I think it's safe to say that we're all tightly wound. And I'm still missing a couple in my headcount too.

Thanks for the link - [livejournal.com profile] london_070705

I did check that when I first saw it mentioned, just half an hour ago, but some of 'my' names weren't listed. I'll check back again in a few minutes for an update. *hugs*

Glad to know you personally are A-ok, Darkhavens.

This event has really stirred me up today. I'm just. So angry.
Sadly, I put much blame on our American president and his empirical intervention where we ought not be. *shrug* I guess it's all in how one looks at it.

Anyway, i wish to send my condolences and express my sorrow over the tragedy in London. Best wishes to you and yours.

fondly,
Cat

*hugs* Thanks.

As for Bush? Well, if I start I might not stop. The sooner he's back on your side of the pond the better, as far as I'm concerned. His presence only seems to exacerbate any problem. :/

Thankfully, my headcount seems to be complete, so I can relax a little. Helluva thing to wake up to.

I looked at my LJ map and saw you were safely out of harms way, or at least this harms way. :-) I know what it's like though -- I grew up in Florida. It's a long narrow state, prone to hurricanes. Every so often a bad one would make a mess of part of the state, and somehow people always figured that it was affecting where we lived too. Usually more than 100 miles away. :-) I am glad you're ok, but I hadn't worried about you. See that you stay that way!

Those maps are useful things! And I have some friends in Florida and I know I always worry when a hurricane hits even if it doesn't look like it's come close. *g*

I'll do my best to avoid trouble, be certain of that! ;)

For Florida, knowing where your friends live, and what they live in, should make it easy to check and see if a hurricane is effecting them. Living inland is a good thing. Living in a house rather than a trailer or a manufactored home is a good thing. Apartments also, in general. Not choosing to live in a highrise building built on filled in ground that used to be bay (ocean) is a good thing.

If you worry during hurrincanes, check with me if you like. I weathered a few. Mostly they were an inconvieance, and sometimes some fun weather too.

Earthquakes or mudslides may effect me here, but so far in the six years I've lived here I've experienced neither, which is better than hurricanes for where I lived in Florida, or acts of terrorism in general. :-)

I hope tomorrow is a quiet news day!
