Not really sure who this is, but it was cool to write.
When I was young, my mother would turn off the light and tell me to sleep. That was when monster would talk to me. It lived under the mattress. I'd always check before crawling beneath the covers, and even though I wouldn't see anything, I still knew it was there. Waiting for the lights to go out. "Come play with me, I don't bite."
Eventually I outgrew my fear of the dark and what lurked under the bed. At least until I found out the monsters were real. They not only dwelled in the shadows, but inside the hearts of men.
