I has multiple owies. :(

Why are so many people such utter f*ckw*ts? And why do I have to work with them?

One of them left a box of bananas in a narrow hallway out back at work - a box of bananas that I had already moved out of the way twice so it wasn't a hazard.

I'm sitting here now with a bloody and bruised neck and shoulder, a bruised elbow, middle finger, knee and ankle, all on my left side, because when I closed up shop an hour ago, I grabbed my cash drawer and one of the scratchcard lockboxes and headed for the office.

I'm laden, I can't see the floor as I come round the door, but I know I cleared everything out of the way not an hour ago... So, I trip, go sideways, rolling my ankle. I totter into the office, hit the wall, which shoves the scratchcard lockbox (open tubular steel piping aimed for my throat!) into my neck and shoulder, at which point I lose verticality and come down on someone's effing scooter that should never have been in the office in the first place, scattering cash all over the place, wrenching my wrist, landing hard on my knee and scraping a load of skin off knuckle, neck and shoulder.

No gaping wounds, thank god, but christ, I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow, and I can forget about putting on a bra. And probably nodding. I can feel my neck muscles tightening as I type. I'm going to be black and blue and scabby. Lovely. I may take pictures. (Why should I suffer alone?)

Oh, and the f*ckw*t thought it was hilarious. It doesn't seem to occur to her that IT'S HER FAULT for moving the banana box from where I'd put it safely out of the way. She didn't even put any bananas out!

So, In conclusion: OW.

In other news, I have 660ml of 5.3% pear cider and two Jaffa Cake muffins.

But I'm still fuming.

*SMISHES YOU ALL (CAREFULLY)*

[identity profile] booster17.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*huggles gently*

Yuck. Make sure the pear cider's gone by the morning okay?

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*whimpers and sighs*

Oh, the cider will be gone waaaaaay before then. I'm halfway down the bottle already. :D

[identity profile] dancetomato.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Good gravy, what an idiot coworker is. I'm all worried about you. *kisses your owies*

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*purrs* Thankee.

I'll be fine, eventually, but tomorrow will not be fun.

At least I'm not due back in until Friday evening, but if the bruise on my shoulder and neck is larger or deeper than I thought, I'm gonna have to call in sick; there's no way I'll be able to get dressed. Big boobies mean big bras and... no. Too much concentrated owie.

I am self-medicating with alcohol and chocolate though, and later there will be bacon and other comfort food... if I can get out of the chair. *ponders this*

*SMOOCH*

[identity profile] flight-wo-wings.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
You're lucky you walked away with just bruises! D: Please tell me you told a supervisor about it.

(waves) I found all the awesome I could have hoped for in your tags, by the way. And then some. XD

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hi!

We're only a small shop, so only the two of us were on and I was such a mess I completely forgot to leave a note. I think I might phone in in the morning and let them know what happened, just in case I do have to call in sick on friday. :/

I'm glad you had fun digging about in the tags. I recently tallied up the fandoms I've written in, and managed to surprise myself. *g*

[identity profile] flight-wo-wings.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I think you should give them a call, definitely. That girl has a reprimand coming, bare minimum. What if you'd broken a bone or something? Or what if she'd left the box out where a customer could have tripped over it? I'm sure the owners would just love to get sued.

I hope you'll continue with the Wally/Bruce tentacle-fic. XD I've also been going through your Spike/Xander stuff; it made me remember why I used to be such a big fan of the pairing.

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be talking to the manager tomorrow and filling out an incident report. I'll also have something to say about the idiocy and lack of awareness of my coworker.

The tentacle fic is definitely not done yet. I have at least two more tentacles to write yet, and then probably a continuation of two or three of the others. It just keep growing! *g*

Spike and Xander were my first love - my introduction to fanfic and slash and the birth of my fandom obsession. I was so sure S/X would be it for me, no other show or pairing would ever come close. And for three years that was true. And then Stargate Atlantis happened and the floodgates opened. :D

[identity profile] akasakasan.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ow ow ow!!

What a bitch, though! And she seriously thought it was funny that you were hurt? *growls*

I'm sending you chicken soup from Australia. Even if you aren't sick, just hurt, chicken soup cures all ailes. Although so do Jaffa Cake muffins!! (yummy)

*hugs you very, very carefully*

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! *smishes you back with minimal squeaking*

I love chicken soup! *holds bowl under a USB port*

Wait.

I had chicken soup yesterday for the first time in ages. Maybe I'm psychic and knew I'd be needing the comfort chicken soup provides! LOL!

Coworker is in her early twenties, wears her trousers hung really low to show off her variously logo'd underwear and smokes pot almost daily. There's not much going on between her ears. I don't think it occured to her *not* to laugh, even as she was getting me a damp cloth to wipe the blood off my neck.

Sometimes people scare me.

[identity profile] sunnyd-lite.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
ouch! Yay for Jaffa to make things a bit better. (see icon for incorrect usage of chocolate)

Random thought, epsom salt bath?

Hope you feel better soonest.

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I would dearly love a long hot soak in the bath, but I don't trust my left arm and leg to help me get out afterwards. I took a short hot shower when I got home and was a bit unstable getting out of the tub then, so. :/

Good idea though, and I will hold onto it until tomorrow (or Friday) and see how the damaged bits are holding up. *g*

Thankee!! :D

OMG!!!

You're gonna send someone to kick her ass, right? Or, hell, i'll come over there and kick her ass for you.

Jayzus!!

*sends cabana boys with bandages and betadine and soothing hot oils to soothe your muscles with and more cider and chocolate and fluffy pillows*

I'm glad you're mostly okay, bay-bee.

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
*enjoys the cabana boys and their goodies*

*SMOOCH*

Thankee! I'm pretty much relying on karma to kick her in the ass when she least expects it. As Slade says in my icon, "I can wait." At least until I meet a friendly vengeance demon and I'm out of chocolate. :D

Oh my god!

*stabs your co-worker*

Have you been to see the doc? Can you go tomorrow?

*flitters around anxiously* I wish I was close by, so I could come look after you and bring you milkshakes and comics and boiled eggs and such! <3333333

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
This happened at 11pm and I just really wanted to go home.

I haven't gone to the doctor, and I probably won't. I'm 99% sure it's just deep tissue bruises and scrapes, but I was really shocky by the time I went to bed - teeth chattering and all - because I realised how close I'd come to ripping my throat open with the tubular steel frame of the scratchcard box. *shudders*

*smooches* I would revel in your fussing and pampering. And now I want a milkshake! *ponders the possibilities of blending vanilla icecream, milk and frozen raspberries...* YUM!

[identity profile] kaydee23.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my gosh. I'm so glad you're still alive. Go see the doctor! I'd seriously consider firing the person who did that, I think they may be trying to kill you!

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. :D

I tend to be docto-avoidant for anything that doesn't require prescription meds. Bruises and abrasions I can tend to myself. I'm sore and achy, but I don't think there's anything the doc could do that I can't do myself.

I will be having words with the manager when I see her, to make an incident report and also to mention how careless the coworker was, and how unaware of her carelessness. How can people be that blind?

Ouch - sorry to hear about your tumble. Hope that you recover soon!

Huh - quoting health and safety and threatening to sue would soon take the smile off her face *is ev0l* ;)

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I've just slathered myself in Tiger Balm, which, if nothing else, smells like it should be helping. *g*

I'll be talking to the manager when I see her, but suing the coworker would be a waste of effort, unless I was willing to settle for her stash and a Peruvian hat. :P

[identity profile] mirasol.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ouch! That sounds nasty.

Have you made out an accident/incident at work report?

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I will be making out a report when I go in on Friday. Last night I was too shocked and disassociated to even think of leaving a note.

The bruises are coming out slower than usual, which to me says they're deeper than I'm used to, which... joy. I'll be blue and purple for days. :/

I imagine Helf & Safety would have a few words to say about this. What a very stupid cow. *smacks her remotely*

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*snuggles* Thankee.

I do hope coworker is somehow sensing all these smacks and stabs and assorted other revenges being taken on my behalf. Hee!

I want pampering. I want Batman and Flash and Dick and Slade to come and put on a show for me and feed me ice cream and chocolates and and and... :D

[identity profile] rowanda380.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
grrr, I can see why you would be pissed. Take a nice hot bath to help the owies go away and feel better soon.

Re: random commenter

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, random commenter! :D

I might have a hot bath later, if I decide that I'll be able to get out once I'm in there. *g*

I hope you feel better soon.

Aaaw, sweetie! **very gentle hugs**

People suck. Clearly the idiot thought the box belonged there for reasons unknown. Finding it moved and then *putting it back* is a sign if some sort of twisted reasoning. Just make me want to gibbssmack the dunce and make her explain herself.

What sort of punishment would be appropriate? I say we make her chase loose marbles in heavy traffic.

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like a perfect punishment to me. *g*

Thanks, darlin'!

[identity profile] madders.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn!*hugs you gently*

And on completely unrelated note- when do you need to book your train tickets for Horbling???

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

And... ASAP! Eep! So, am I on for a lift in this fancy new motor of yours? And if so, what station am I getting off at again? (I have a terrible, terrible memory. It's getting worse by the day, I swear!)

[identity profile] madders.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Heee! Yes you do get a ride in the fancy new motor... although it will probably not be the one I'm driving atm- I've already reached 6,000 miles on it so have to put in for a new one!!!

And it's Reading (central) station- so straight up the main line this time ;o)

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Whee! A new new motor! :D

Okay, then what time do you want me? The journey takes between 2.14 and 2.58 hrs, depending on which train I take, so let me know roughly when you want to pick me up and I'll find the best train.

Horbling, here we come! \o/

[identity profile] madders.livejournal.com 2009-09-13 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it takes about 3 hours to get from Reading to Horbling, so if we wanna get there around 2-3pm(ish) then sometime between 11am-12noon would be good!

Whatever suits you really :o)

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Done!

Out : 09:35 - newton abbot 11:51 - reading station
Back: 18:31 - reading station 20:35 - newton abbot

Horbling ahoy! :D

I'm also considering buying and bringing a laptop. *headdesk*

[identity profile] madders.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!

And my new,new car is due about 2 weeks before Horbling *g*

I can't wait!!!

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, dammit! I just realised I booked for the wrong dates. I still have the October dates marked in Lotus, not the November ones. Shit.

So, I'm gonna have to change my tickets, and change the days I have booked off work. *headdesk*

[identity profile] madders.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well damn!

No worries hon- just let me know the new times!

She quit yesterday, without giving notice, and only 6 hours before they were supposed to work an evening shift. Apparently she's 'sick of being blamed for everything'. o.O

Thanks, darlin'! I took photos of the bruising and it looks like I've been thoroughly stamped on. Thankfully, it doesn't hurt as much as it looks painful. *g*

LMAO! What's really sad is she was probably very honest about that. Does the poor girl even have any idea what a walking disaster she really is?

Wow.

Hopefully you'll be able to work just a bit safer now.
