slashthedrabble prompt #146 - Power, and also for mini_nanowrimo, day 28. Can be read as a standalone, though in my head it is part of the baby!vamp!Xander 'verse.
To be able to snap bones like twigs and peel away skin like blood-soaked rags and still have your victim beg for your touch, your attention; to drain a body of its lifeblood while it wriggles and flops, then leave it balanced on the cusp to survive or perish while you laugh - that's what Angelus taught Spike about power.
Angelus didn't have a clue.
True power is taking a fragile human being and, in that taking, creating a demon, an equal, family - making them yours.
Having Xander in his bed, by his side, because he wants to be - that's power.
