Loss of Innocence

Xander stared at his bowl and wondered whether he'd ever be able to get over the betrayal. He'd trusted Spike to never break his heart like that, yet here he was...

Now his illusions were shattered. He didn't know what to believe in any more; wasn't sure he'd ever be able to believe again at all.

And the worst of it was, Spike didn't even know what he had done with his careless words. He didn't know he'd shattered Xander's dreams.

"But Spike, it's Jello!"

"Skin and bones, luv, all boiled down. Eat up now, it's raspberry lime, your favourite!"


Not The Only One

Spike felt betrayed.

He knew it was illogical to be jealous of a pet, but he'd always thought he'd be the only vicious, possessive creature in Xander's bed. He never imagined he'd ever have to share him, least of all with a beast whose innocent, cute demeanour hid her evil nature much too well.

"Put your killer kitten out for the night, luv, then I'll shag you blind. You know she'll try and join in if you let her stay."

Seven of Nine took one last delicate swipe at Xander's throat then allowed herself to be carried from the room.

I never quite got over discovering what gelatine was actually made of. I can imagine Xander having the same reaction, vampire or not. He's been eating the rendered bones and hides of cows and pigs for years in innocent childhood treats and never knew! Gah!
