Open Invitation

"Can you believe it? She came straight up to me on campus, handed me this flyer and said it was for a 'Getting To Know You' party in the dorm. I asked if I could bring a friend and she said that everybody's welcome. So, can we go?"

"Think you'd be able to control yourself in a situation like that? It'd be so tempting to try and taste everything on offer but we'd have to be discreet, just pick off one or two and take them somewhere quiet. And no sloppy eating. You're getting better, but you're not perfect."

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"





First Anniversary

Xander woke late, unsurprised to find the other side of the huge bed empty. He grinned in anticipation. One year ago Spike had given him the gift of eternity and Xander was curious to see just how his Sire planned to celebrate their anniversary.

A sound from the next room grabbed his attention, and Xander prowled towards the sound, heedless of his nakedness. He stopped in the doorway and smiled.

"Are we having a party?"

Spike looked down at the brace of bound cheerleaders at his feet.

"They were selling Girl Scout cookies door-to-door. Dinner and dessert, delivered? Couldn't resist."





Family

"Party of four, Aurelius. I believe we have one of the private function rooms booked?"

The Maitre D' obsequiously ushered them to their table, where Angelus and Drusilla already sat. Silence reigned until he left the room and then Spike spoke, his usual tact and diplomatic style well in force.

"So, Peaches. Heard you got rid of that curse of yours for good this time. Also heard you're not the psycho git you were before. Always thought shagging the Slayer was what drove you insane. Nearly ended up that way meself."

Xander smiled, content to have a family at last.

Ooh! Can't wait! There really should be more fic where it's All Buffy's Fault.

It totally makes sense, too, because she never wanted to be where/what she was, and that unwillingness could be seen as spilling over onto the people closest to her and making their lives miserable, even though it was for the greater good.

FWIW, when everyone was doing the commissioned fics for the tsunami victims, I made a donation for TBQ to write a fic where Spike gets his own back (vengance via any means she wishes, not necessarily violent) after Dead Things. It's still in the works; TBQ's had a bunch of family stuff lately, and it's a hard concept to write. But I do think that it's something that has potential.

Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to your upcoming work! If there's anything I could do to help (beta, etc) please let me know. We must all work together in the pursuit of great fic! ;)
